For years WWTP sludge has been regarded as “only” waste and not as a high-value energy source. In the last year, we have been getting a lot of requests to help companies and municipalities to figure out the best and most efficient way to handle their sludge. Due in part to the increased volumes of sludge from the treatment of wastewater. But also due to stricter regulations where the sludge now must be disposed of correctly.
We can, of course, help both companies and municipalities with this question. Thanks to the Exergy Superheated Steam Dryer the sludge from effluent treatment plants becomes a renewable energy source or soil improvement. The dried sludge is sterilized, free of odor, and possible to store indefinitely, hence becoming a source of revenue instead of cost.
Sludge contains 75% to 80% water and removing it requires a lot of energy. With Exergy Superheated Steam Dryer, the water that is removed from the wet sludge is turned into steam thus allowing over 80% of the energy input to be recycled. The Exergy Superheated Steam Dryer can also be used as a sanitation method as the sludge gets 100% sterilized in the process.
Exergy drying technology does more than just drying. The dried sludge receives many unique benefits and improvements compared to other drying methods.
Precise and uniform drying, 100% sterilized, Increased storage lifetime, Lower transport cost, An environment-, energy-, and moneysaving drying technology.
